Every Whitsun weekend 300 people, young and old, set off with camping gear to set up camp on a hired private school site. The venue has changed over the years and is presently on a site in Leicestershire. We are able to camp on the playing fields and use the school facilities.
The structure of the activities is fairly loose and you can choose which activity you wish to attend. A musical band accompanies us throughout with keyboards, cello, guitars, oboes, and other wind and stringed instruments. On Saturday or Sunday evening we have an entertainment evening which, in the past, has included 'Ready, Steady, Cook', 'Strictly Come Dancing', and quizzes. A specified speaker leads us on a couple of talks or, as this year, workshops on various topics, such as parenting, and the growing church.
It is a great atmosphere to be able to relax and meet old friends and share fellowship and break bread together even if the weather is not so kind to us! This year several tents blew away and, in a previous year, it was so wet that we had to move into the Sports Hall to sleep! But don't let the weather put you off, come along and enjoy our time together.
