Slimbridge 2003
The Life of Joseph was our theme this year - the first time we stayed at the Youth Hostel in Gloucestershire. The space for workshops and formal and informal get togethers made it a great location - if rather further to travel than we were used to.
That space was well used for groups doing drama, cookery, background studies, thinking about 'providence' in Joseph's life and ours or comparing Joseph with Jesus, as well as five short studies picking out lessons from Joseph's experiences.
Our programme allowed for everyone, no matter how old or young to join in everything so no one had to dip out of the adult's activities to look after the children and the youngsters didn't get bored having to sit still for too long! As it was successful we followed the same pattern for the next couple of years.
This was the year we had a 70's evening with a quiz, games and, of course, the music. I also think it was the time some of us went for a walk on the Sunday morning and strayed so far from our route we had to ring for drivers to rescue us!
